Mom's coming together to change the way consignment shopping is done across Canada
A Mom in Western Canada has compiled a web site that enables other parents to sell their children’s previously worn clothing on the internet. Kidswap.ca, found at http://www.kidswap.ca on the World Wide Web, provides 24 hour access, 7 days a week to infant, toddler, children and maternity clothes, as well as toys and other children’s accessories to others all over Canada.
Simply put, it’s a new take on consignment shopping, but one that lets the seller control the price and lets them pocket the profits.
So far, the site has allowed other stay-at-home-Mom’s to make some extra money off clothes that were simply sitting in their child’s closet. It was an idea whose time had come. Simply take a pic and click! has become the unofficial motto of the website, because that’s exactly how easy it is to use the site.
You take a picture of the item you have for sale, fill out an on-line form, and hit submit! Then you simply wait to be contacted about the items you have listed for sale. Simple!
The idea for the website first came to mind for owner Shelly Wutke late one night, while up with her daughter. Knowing that she wanted to get up early the next morning to attend a local kid swap, she wished that there was an easier way to shop for good quality, previously worn children’s clothes and other related items.
As of December 2003, there now is. Since it’s opening, Kidswap.ca has become a great place to save money on children’s and maternity clothing, toys and other related items. Add to that a community of Mom’s across Canada who are truly excited about this venture, and you have a recipe for success! The site is already averaging over 3000 hits per day, and is growing rapidly.
Kidswap.ca is consignment shopping for the new millennium. It offers fast and easy access to hundreds of children’s items online. Imagine doing your shopping at your convenience, whether it be at 3pm, or 3am. Kidswap.ca is there for you (and, there’s a good chance that you won’t be alone, no matter what time it is, check out The Forum, a page to come and chat about anything and everything). Whether you’re buying or selling, come and check it out!
