KidKraft Awarded PGA TOUR License
Embarking on its first foray into sports licensing, KidKraft – a leading juvenile products manufacturer – has entered into an agreement with the PGA TOUR to create and distribute a collection of licensed PGA TOUR juvenile furnishings, accessories, and toys.
Under the terms of the agreement, KidKraft will design and manufacture a wood golf set, rocking golf cart, table and chair set, bookshelf, toy caddy, step stool, storage bin unit, and a golf table set with clubhouse. Building on the theme of golf, products will be inspired by the healthy, active lifestyle the sport invokes. PGA TOUR toy items will focus on encouraging open-ended imaginative play, while function and organization will be the mandate of the furniture and accessory items.
Golf has a tremendously broad reach across the U.S. population, appealing to grandparents, parents, and children. The popularity of the sport is growing, particularly in the juvenile market, said Steven Lampert, president of KidKraft. Of the approximately 36.7 million people who played golf in 2002, 6.1 million were kids. This brings unique opportunities for reaching a wide youth market that transcends race and age.
KidKraft’s PGA TOUR items will be distributed to selected mass and specialty retailers. Initial items will be available for preview at the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas, as well as the Fall Mass Market Toy Expo in New York City.
We are pleased to introduce KidKraft as our newest licensee for a PGA TOUR branded collection of juvenile furnishings and accessories. Parents and children will enjoy the solid construction and high-quality golf-themed products manufactured by KidKraft, stated Leo P. McCullagh, Vice President of Retail Licensing for PGA TOUR. You are never too young to have fun with golf, and we are excited to be able to offer these excellent products to our youth market.
Our focus will be on designing creative and imaginative products that capture the spirit of golf, adds Lampert. We are looking very forward to maximizing on the opportunities that licensing the PGA TOUR brings.
