Bartell Drugs and World Vision team up to help local kids and teachers through SchoolTools for Kids program

Local kids will have the important tools they need to succeed in school through Bartell Drugs and World Vision’s SchoolTools for Kids program, which provides school supplies to schoolchildren in low-income neighborhoods.

Through the program, individuals can purchase and donate supplies beginning July 8 for a SchoolTools kit at any of Bartell Drugs 50 locations in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.

The program’s goal is to provide teachers with free SchoolTool kits for children in their classes who are unable to afford basic school supplies. The schools and children who will benefit from the program have already been identified by World Vision through their existing Kids in Need program. Seventy schools in the Puget Sound region are currently participating in the program.

Items needed for kits include packages of 7 or 8 wooden pencils (plain with no designs), pencil sharpeners, 24-packs of crayons, rulers with metric measurements, packages of colored pencils, steno notebooks and pink gum erasers.

Teachers are thrilled about this program, said Pauline Hill, Elementary Director for Seattle Public Schools. Often times teachers have to reach into their own pockets to provide essentials like pencils and paper, which makes every donation highly appreciated.
